Winter seems to be finally behind us in St. Petersburg, FL! The weather is warming up and so is the fishing. The fish are finally coming out of their wintertime patterns and moving into their spring patterns. This is partially good for snook fishing, Snook are very temperature sensitive fish. As the water temperature beings to warm up, they will become more active. Fishing around deeper, moving, warmer water in the early spring is key. If you can find these 3 things in a spot, you are more than likely going to find snook stacked up. Fish a wide variety of baits from pinfish to pilchards for the snook. Spring also brings are big trout out. As the trout get ready to spawn, they will start to eat or carry themselves thru the spawn. You can use a variety of different baits to target the trout, from artificial swimbaits to live pilchards on a cork. Fishing in moving current directly on or off deeper grass flats. Good luck to everyone this spring!
